Fees How Much a Notary Costs in Florida
Florida caps notary fees at $10 per act and $25 online. What travel, translation and apostille fees add, and what to ask before booking.
Notarizations
In short: Remote online notarization (RON) lets a Florida online notary notarize your document over a recorded audio-video session, with your ID verified electronically. You can be anywhere, including outside the US. Florida caps the fee at $25 per online notarial act.
Step 1
Remote online notarization is a notarization performed by a Florida online notary over a live, recorded video call, using a state-compliant platform that verifies the signer's identity and applies an electronic signature and seal.
It exists for people who cannot meet a notary in person. Snowbirds who have already flown back north after selling a Cape Coral home, relatives abroad who need to sign a power of attorney for a family member in Florida, and busy professionals who would rather not take an hour off work all use it.
The document is uploaded to the platform, you join by computer or phone camera, your identity is checked with credential analysis and identity questions, and you sign electronically while the notary watches. The session is recorded and stored as Florida law requires, which gives the notarization a stronger audit trail than many paper ones.
Step 2
A laptop or a recent smartphone with a stable connection. A quiet, well-lit room helps the ID check.
The platform scans the front and back. Some foreign IDs may not pass the automated check, so ask us first if yours is not a US ID or passport.
Complete, with no blanks. We upload it or send you a link to upload it.
You receive the invitation to join the session by email or text.

Step 5
Yes. Florida authorizes remote online notarization by notaries who are registered with the Department of State as online notaries and use an approved platform. The online notary must be physically in Florida during the session, but the signer can be elsewhere. Online notarizations are recorded, and the recording is kept for years as the law requires.
In most cases yes, which is why families abroad use it for powers of attorney and property paperwork in Florida. The difficulty is usually the ID check: the automated credential analysis works best with US IDs and passports. If you only have a foreign ID, message us first and we will confirm whether the platform can verify it.
Florida county recorders accept electronically notarized documents through e-recording, and a paper print-out can be recorded with the proper certificate. If the document is going to another state or country, check with the receiving office that it accepts electronic notarization before booking.
Yes. Witnesses can join the video session remotely or be physically present with the signer, depending on the document. Florida has extra rules when the signer is a vulnerable adult, and some documents need witnesses in person. Tell us the document type in advance so the session is set up correctly.
The session pauses and you rejoin with the same link. If the connection cannot be restored, the notarization is rescheduled; nothing is notarized unless the whole session is completed and recorded.
